Core barrels with roller bits are used for cutting an annular ring in hard rock. Roler bits are delivered complete with a holder system. The holder is mounted on the bottom ring of the core barrel with 2 screws and a centralizing pin. Roller bits are provided in 2 sizes: for cutting an annular ring with a width of 140 mm and 170 mm.
Roller bits core barrels SM-RM are used in very strong rock formations (compressive strength>100MPA).KR-RM core barrels use rock roller bits for cutting the annular groove with a width of 220mm or 320mm and remove the rock chipping by air-lift technique of flushing (activaed by a vent flap) into a dust collector box mounted on top of the core barrel .The core barrel is extracted from the bore after coring a length of about 1 m and the dust collector box is enptied .for shorter coring lengths it is possible to work without a flushing system.
